THE MONTEREY PENINSULA

The Monterey Peninsula has a beauty that entices visitors from all over the world. Monterey was the first capital of California before The State became part of the United States, so Monterey is considered a historic town.  Monterey features an array of fine restaurants, boutiques, galleries, B&Bs, inns, and a multitude of recreation activities.  Monterey offers one of the finest marine biology facilities in the world, The Monterey Bay Aquarium.  Whale watching is a favorite as California Grey Whales, Humpbacks, and Blue Whales cruise by the California Coast.  Monterey is host to a wide variety of festivals and world class events including The Monterey Jazz Festival, The Monterey Blues Festival, Cherries Jubilee, The Monterey Wine Festival.  Nearby, Laguna Seca Raceway, offers awesome motoring events such as NASCAR and Motorcross.

 

Carmel-by-the-Sea, is a quaint coastal town with a population of 5,000 residents. By the 1920's Carmel had already achieved its international reputation as an artists' colony frequented by the likes of John Steinbeck. Carmel's biggest attractions are the downtown shopping district and its white sand beaches. 

 

Pacific Grove is known for its thriving population of Monarch butterflies which migrate to the coastal town every year. A stroll through the PG neighborhoods reveals many turn of the century Victorian homes. History buffs can visit the Point Piños Lighthouse, the oldest operating facility of its kind on the California coast. The world famous 17-Mile Drive starts in Pacific Grove.
