Des Moines Iowa is a great cultural center in the state of Iowa and is home to several art and history museums and performing arts groups. In fact, the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines frequently hosts Broadway shows and other live professional theater. The Temple for Performing Arts and the Des Moines Playhouse are two other places which are known for having live theater, comedy, and performing arts. Some major attractions in Des Moines are the Iowa State Capitol. The capitol grounds include a WWII memorial with a sculpture and a wall of memories, the 1864 soldiers and sailor’s monument of the Civil War and memorials honoring those who served in the Spanish-American, Korean, and Vietnam wars.
Iowa’s history lives on through the State of Iowa Historical Museum. There are temporary and permanent exhibits that explore people, places, events, and issues of Iowa’s past. The showcase in the museum includes native wildlife, American-Indian and pioneer artifacts, and political and military items.
Blank Park Zoo is on the south side of Des Moines Iowa. Among all if the wonderful animal exhibits, there is also a tropical rain forest, Australian outback, and an African exhibit. The Blank Park Zoo not only offers tours and rental facilities, but it also offers educational classes that you can sign up for and take right there at the zoo.
