What's an INNsight? Understanding Our Reviews System


When you hear the word insight, what does it mean to you? We define insight as actionable piece of information that comes from gathering and understanding a lot of data. We also know that people love to share their insights. Leveraging what we know about the word insight and how powerful its meaning is, we set out to build our platform for Places to Stay that incorporates the aspects of that very word. An INNsight is our definition for a review left by travelers who have stayed at a particular INN. INNsights are shared by guests with The Community to help them make qualified decisions on where they would like to stay.

Solve Problems
I can't leave an INNsight.
INNsights can only be left by registered users who have stayed at the subject property. You will need to log into your My INNsight Passport in order to leave an INNsight. If you have not stayed at the property for which you would like to leave feedback, you will not be able to leave an INNsight. We want to ensure that all of our INNsights are qualified and left by actual property guests.
The INNsight I left does not show up on the Property's Profile Page.
Any INNsights that are provided are fully vetted by our staff to ensure that they follow our Terms and Agreements. Once the INNsight is approved it will be viewable publically on The Site.

How do you calculate the INNsight Score?



The INNsight Score is based on an average of the six (6) quality measures of an INNsight Review: Guest Room Quality, Service, Value, Cleanliness, Location, and Comfort. We calculate the average of these six scores on a 1-5 point scale. We feel that this score provides a holistic view of the INN from a guest's perspective which can help prospective guests make an educated and confident decision to book.

What are the different qualities that you obtain feedback on?
An INNsight comprises of data points on a total of seven (7) feedback scores which are scored on 1 -5 point rating scale:
  • Overall: What was the guest's overall experience with his stay at this property?
  • Quality Measures:
    • Guest Room: What was the guest's overall impression of the quality of the guest room and its furnishings?
    • Service: How was the service from the INNkeeper and staff that the guest encountered during their stay?
    • Value: What was the guest's perception of the value of the property and stay experience based on the cost?
    • Cleanliness: How clean was the property grounds and guest room?
    • Location: How does the guest rank the location of the property in regards to its proximity to attractions, restaurants, nightlife or other factors?
    • Comfort: How comfortable was the guest's stay at this property?
How do I leave an INNsight?

You can leave an INNsight by clicking on the 'Leave feedback' link on your check-out email message or by visiting the INNkeeper's Property Profile Page's INNsight tab and then clicking on 'Write a Review'. INNsights can only be left by registered users who have stayed at the subject property. You will need to log into your My INNsight Passport in order to leave an INNsight. If you have not stayed at the property for which you would like to leave feedback, you will not be able to leave an INNsight. We want to ensure that all of our INNsights are qualified and left by actual property guests. Leaving INNsights not only helps our community make informed decisions but also helps provide feedback to INNkeepers so they can improve their facilities and services.

Where is the INNsight score shown?

The INNsight score is shown at multiple locations throughout the site. The most prominent place where you will see the INNsight score is within Search Results alongside each property. The INNsight Score is a 5 point rating system which we have created to help travelers determine the quality of a property based on shared opinions of previous guests. We place the score next to the property wherever it is displayed throughout the site. INNsights are further broken down for display within each property's Profile Page INNsights tab. You can review actual guests INNsights in detail on the INNsights tab. The derived INNsights score is also used by our search algorithm. We ensure that our default Best Match search order results in higher quality properties surfacing to the top of the search results set so you will see that properties with higher INNsight scores tend to gravitate to the top of the page.
